Cardinals Rookie Jeremiyah Love Declines to Confirm Availability for Sunday Opener

Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love declined to confirm his availability for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers during media availability at the team's facility in Glendale. The No. 3 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft has been limited in practice this week as he continues rehabilitation from a left high-ankle sprain suffered on August 13 during a preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Head coach Mike LaFleur expressed optimism regarding the rookie's progress, though Love stated he will defer entirely to the coaching and medical staffs regarding whether he takes the field. Love recorded 58 rushing yards on 11 carries and three receptions in his lone preseason appearance before sustaining the injury. Tyler Allgeier is currently listed as the starting running back on the team's unofficial depth chart, with veteran running back Bam Knight also in reserve. The Cardinals enter Week 1 carrying multiple injuries across their backfield personnel.
