Drew Lock, Seahawks Come From Behind to Edge Patriots in Season Opener

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 13-10 on Wednesday night at Lumen Field in an NFL season-opening game that served as a rematch of Super Bowl LX. Seattle starting quarterback Sam Darnold exited the contest during the opening possession after sustaining a hip injury when sacked by linebacker Dre'Mont Jones. Backup quarterback Drew Lock replaced Darnold, completing 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots built a 10-0 lead behind a touchdown pass from Drake Maye to rookie tight end Eli Raridon and a field goal by Andres Borregales, while New England wide receiver A.J. Brown exited in the third quarter with an ankle injury. In the fourth quarter, Seattle capitalized on three interceptions thrown by Maye. Lock connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 45-yard game-tying touchdown, Jason Myers kicked a go-ahead field goal, and cornerback Josh Jobe secured the victory with a late end-zone interception.
