San Diego County wildfire reaches 50 percent containment

San Diego County fire officials report that the Border 6 Fire in Marron Valley reached 50% containment on the morning of June 4, 2026. The wildfire, discovered on June 1 at about 1:54 p.m. near the Tijuana River, has burned approximately 2,617 acres. About 130 personnel are working the incident, supported by 10 engines, four water tenders, four helicopters, and four hand crews. Authorities explain that containment reflects control lines built around the fire’s perimeter and does not mean the fire is extinguished. The cause remains under investigation by Cal Fire, and incident teams continue updating containment based on daily field reports.
