Washington — Thousands gathered at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on May 12 and May 13 as the Police Unity Tour completed its 30th anniversary ride and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund held the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil, adding 363 names to the national memorial to honor officers who died in the line of duty. The events included a $2.5 million donation to the Memorial Fund, a ceremony recognizing Apache Junction Officer Gabriel Facio whose name was among those added this week, and local observances including a Kauai proclamation for National Police Week, May 10–16; an FBI report shows 16 felonious officer deaths reported Jan.1–Apr.30, 2026.
