The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has banned university textbooks authored by women and those deemed "anti-Sharia". Around 680 books, including 140 by female authors, were removed. Eighteen subjects, six specifically concerning women's studies, are also prohibited. This follows a recent ban on fiber-optic internet and a previous restriction on women's education beyond the sixth grade. The ban also targets Iranian content, creating a significant gap in Afghanistan's university curriculum and raising concerns among academics about maintaining global academic standards.
