UK drops demand for backdoor into Apple encryption

The UK has dropped its demand for Apple to provide backdoor access to iCloud data, following pressure from the US. The January order, which sought access to encrypted files globally, prompted Apple to restrict its Advanced Data Protection service in the UK and sparked US concerns over violation of the CLOUD Act. While the US reportedly opposed renegotiation of terms with Apple, the UK's withdrawal of the order remains unconfirmed by official statements. Apple's future plans for its ADP service in the UK are also unclear.
