Stanford University scientists have developed a brain implant that can decode and vocalize inner speech, offering a breakthrough for individuals with paralysis. Unlike previous methods relying on attempted speech movements, this implant directly interprets imagined words. Four ALS and stroke patients participated, achieving up to 74% accuracy in real-time speech decoding. The system also incorporates a password protection feature to safeguard privacy.
