Air India flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed in Ahmedabad, India, shortly after takeoff on June 12, 2025, killing 241 passengers and crew and five people on the ground. One passenger survived. The plane, carrying 242 people en route to the UK, crashed into a building. Both black boxes have been recovered and an investigation, involving US and Indian authorities, is underway. The cause of the crash remains unknown, but high fuel levels and intense fire hampered rescue efforts. Air India is providing financial compensation to victims' families.
