RedBird Capital, a US firm, has agreed to acquire the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers from Lloyds Bank. This follows a two-year ownership void after the Barclay family defaulted on debts. An earlier bid involving RedBird and Sheikh Mansour was blocked due to government regulations preventing foreign government ownership. This deal, however, is expected to secure regulatory approval, allowing RedBird to take control while IMI retains a minority stake. RedBird plans to expand the Telegraph's reach, particularly in the US market.
