Carpenter Stops Bend School Shooter | JQJO

Kaylub Giamanco, a 36‑year‑old carpenter from Bend, Oregon, intervened at Silver Rail Elementary School on Oct. 15, 2023, stopping 16‑year‑old Griffin J. John II from continuing a mass shooting that had already killed a teacher and three children. Giamanco, who kept a .40‑caliber handgun in his truck, entered the school after seeing the gunman toss his weapon over the fence and climb the building. He called 911, then rushed inside, confronting the shooter and ending the attack. Police credited Giamanco’s quick thinking and decisive action for preventing further casualties. The incident was reported by NBC News and detailed in an interview with Oregon Public Broadcasting.
