Florida coach Todd Golden has signed a one-year contract extension worth $49.5 million, keeping him under contract through the 2031-32 season, the Associated Press reported Aug. 28. The agreement raises Golden’s 2026-27 salary from $6 million to $7.5 million and increases it by $300,000 annually, reaching $9 million in the final season. Florida would owe Golden 85% of the remaining value if it fires him without cause, while his college buyout begins at $16 million and declines annually. His NBA buyout is substantially lower, beginning at $3 million. Golden’s compensation also includes longevity and expense payments, jet use, and performance bonuses. The extension follows four successful seasons in Gainesville, where Golden is 103-41. Florida won the 2025 national championship and the 2026 SEC regular-season title. The school finalized the extension earlier this month after seeking another deal in May. Golden’s agreement underscores Florida’s commitment to retaining its championship-winning coach long-term.
