Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik win the US Open mixed doubles championship

Czech tennis players Karolína Muchová and Jakub Menšík captured their first Grand Slam mixed doubles title at the US Open on Wednesday, defeating Switzerland's Belinda Bencic and Italy's Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. After splitting the first two sets, Menšík sealed the victory in the match tiebreak with a powerful ace, earning the pair a share of the one million dollar champion prize. On their road to the championship match, Muchová and Menšík survived a difficult semifinal test by saving two match points against Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev. Playing in his first-ever mixed doubles tournament, Menšík humorously noted his undefeated record, while Muchová credited their coordination and chemistry on the court for the historic win.
