Prosecutors dropped initial felony strangulation allegations, opting instead for Class A misdemeanor counts carrying potential jail time. Jacobs was originally arrested on May 26 and released the following day. His defense attorneys released a joint statement emphasizing that the formal counts do not include domestic violence classifications and will be contested in court.
