United Kingdom probes Microsoft over Copilot pricing

The UK Competition and Markets Authority has opened an investigation into whether Microsoft misled personal and family customers when marketing Microsoft 365 subscription plans that included its AI assistant, Copilot. According to the CMA announcement on Wednesday, Copilot was initially offered at no extra cost, but some customers later encountered higher subscription prices upon renewal. The regulator will assess whether consumers were given clear, timely information about pricing differences and available options before deciding to continue their plans.
