Los Angeles warehouse fire prompts extended pollution advisory

A large commercial cold storage facility fire in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, has led to an extended particle pollution and toxic smoke advisory for much of the Los Angeles basin. The blaze, designated INC1019, began at 1400 S. Los Palos Street and continued burning into Monday, June 22, 2026, with smoke behavior driven by shifting winds and weather. The South Coast Air Quality Management District extended its advisory through Tuesday, June 23, 2026, and deployed specialized monitors for fine particulates and multiple gases. Mobile monitoring also checked for ammonia, hydrogen fluoride, and heavy metals. Air quality remains unhealthy, and vulnerable residents are urged to stay indoors.
