Eight-year-old Trishna Shakya, Nepal's living goddess Kumari, participated in the Indra Jatra festival Saturday. Carried in a chariot, she received blessings from thousands of devotees. Chosen from the Newar community at age three, Kumaris live in a temple palace until puberty, rarely leaving and never touching the ground outside. The Indra Jatra festival is the first of several major celebrations in Nepal.
