A data breach exposed the identities of over 100 British special forces and MI6 personnel, along with nearly 19,000 Afghans who assisted British forces in Afghanistan. The leak, stemming from a government employee mistakenly emailing sensitive data, was initially covered by a super-injunction. The revelation led to concerns for the safety of those named, as the Taliban may seek retribution. The government has launched a resettlement scheme, the Afghanistan Response Route, costing £850m, but refuses to comment on the extent of harm caused by the breach.
