Tomb filled with skulls and bones of 24 battle victims discovered in Peru

Archaeologists in southern Peru unearthed a pre-Columbian tomb containing 24 individuals, all exhibiting fatal battle injuries. The circular tomb, inscribed with 24 names, included grave goods like pottery, textiles, and corn cobs, suggesting a ritual burial. Analysis indicates the victims were likely from the victorious side of a conflict, given the elaborate burial practices. The discovery sheds light on pre-Incan warfare and burial rituals in the Atico River Valley, with excavation continuing through April.
