Measles Outbreak: Unvaccinated Child Exposes Oahu Residents

Read, Watch or Listen

Hawai'i's Department of Health confirmed a measles case in an unvaccinated child under 5 who recently returned from international travel. The child visited several locations on Oʻahu between March 30th and April 4th, potentially exposing others. The DOH is investigating and urging those who visited specified locations during the noted times, and are unvaccinated, to contact their healthcare provider immediately. Vaccination or immune globulin can prevent measles if administered shortly after exposure. Measles is highly contagious, and symptoms include fever, rash, cough, and runny nose.
