Two Dead, 13 Shot at Party Near Maxton

Two people were killed and several others critically wounded when gunfire erupted at a large weekend party in a rural area outside Maxton, North Carolina. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said 13 people were shot and more than 150 attendees fled before deputies arrived. Investigators, including homicide detectives, were at the scene early Saturday. Officials called it an isolated incident with no current threat to the community. Names of the victims were not released, and no arrests had been announced. The sheriff asked anyone with information to contact investigators.
