Georgia’s State Security Service arrested three Chinese citizens in Tbilisi on suspicion of attempting to buy 2kg of uranium for $400,000, allegedly planning to move it to China via Russia. Authorities said a Chinese national already in Georgia, in breach of visa rules, brought in experts to search for uranium, while others coordinated from China. The suspects were detained during negotiations, and the service released video of the operation. No identities or arrest dates were disclosed. They face up to 10 years in prison amid a backdrop of prior trafficking cases.
