Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered "immediate and powerful" strikes in Gaza on Tuesday after an Israeli military official said Hamas violated a U.S.-brokered ceasefire by attacking IDF soldiers in Rafah. Hamas said it would delay handing over a hostage’s body. Earlier this month, two IDF soldiers were killed in Rafah, prompting Israeli air and ground strikes that targeted six kilometers of tunnels with over 120 munitions, the IDF said. Details of Tuesday’s incident remained unclear, but the Oct. 10 ceasefire had temporarily halted the two-year war and enabled exchanges of hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
