US President Donald Trump and Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi proclaimed a "new golden age" in ties in Tokyo, signing deals for F-35 tactical missiles, shipbuilding cooperation, and a pact to bolster critical minerals and rare-earths supply chains following China's announcement of export restrictions. Takaichi, who said she was "impressed and inspired," will nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, the White House said. Trump also met families of Japanese abducted by North Korea, pledging support, ahead of a mooted meeting with Kim Jong Un as he heads to South Korea next.
