Leak Fears Shadow Louvre Jewel Heist Probe

French prosecutors warned that a weekend leak about two arrests could hinder the manhunt for the Louvre Museum jewel thieves, after authorities detained two men in their 30s from Seine-Saint-Denis as they prepared to fly to Algeria and Mali. Trace DNA from a helmet tied one suspect to the Oct. 19 heist, in which a crew used a stolen truck and cherry picker to reach the Apollo Gallery, cut a window and used power tools to open glass cases, stealing eight pieces worth about $102 million. The Louvre conceded a perimeter security weakness; the jewels' whereabouts remain unknown.
