Judge weighs detention in Louvre jewel heist

A 38-year-old woman arrested in connection with the Louvre’s unprecedented jewelry heist appeared before a judge to decide whether she will be detained, French media said. Charged with complicity in organized theft and criminal conspiracy, she wept as the closed-door hearing began. The case follows a seven-minute daytime raid that stole jewels worth about $102 million; the loot remains missing. Authorities have arrested seven people in total, though one of five detained this week was released. Two earlier suspects partially admitted to charges and were charged with theft and conspiracy.
