Cities sue over Trump's new Public Service Loan Forgiveness rule : NPR

Albuquerque, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, joined by the two largest teachers unions and AFSCME, sued the Trump administration over a PSLF rule set for July 1, 2026. The policy lets education secretary deny PSLF to workers whose employers are deemed to have a substantial illegal purpose. Plaintiffs call it political retaliation that could punish employees and worsen staffing. Under Secretary Nicholas Kent defended the change as a curb on taxpayer support for organizations involved in terrorism, child trafficking, or transgender procedures harming children. A coalition of 21 state attorneys general filed a challenge.
