Pardoned Capitol Rioter Charged in Jeffries Threat

Christopher Moynihan, a Capitol rioter pardoned nine months ago, was arrested Sunday for allegedly threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Prosecutors say Moynihan texted plans to “eliminate” Jeffries ahead of the Democrat’s Monday speech at the Economic Club of New York. He is charged with making a terroristic threat, arraigned in Clinton and held on bail ahead of a Thursday court appearance in Dutchess County. New York State Police made the arrest after an FBI-initiated probe. The case comes amid a surge in threats to lawmakers, with 2025 inquiries already surpassing 14,000, Capitol Police said.
