Prince Andrew has relinquished the title of Baron Killyleagh, granted by Elizabeth II on his 1986 wedding day, and said he will give up all royal titles, including Duke of York. In a personal statement, he said he "vigorously" denies accusations and, after talks with the King and family, concluded they distract from the Royal Family’s work. Jim Lindsay, chair of Killyleagh Development Association, welcomed the move, saying it should have happened "a long time ago," while noting little local discussion about the issue. Andrew visited Killyleagh in 1986 and 2002, including unveiling a statue of Sir Hans Sloane.
