A near-collision occurred at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) between a United A320 and a SkyWest CRJ-200 during parallel takeoffs. The United flight, due to a possible flight management system error, made an incorrect turn, flying directly into the path of the SkyWest aircraft. The planes came within 0.4 nautical miles horizontally and 280 feet vertically. Air traffic control also issued incorrect instructions.
