NJ Transit Strike Ends; Train Service Resumes Tuesday

Read, Watch or Listen

NJ Transit's three-day strike has ended after a tentative agreement was reached between the agency and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET). The key sticking point was wages, with the new deal offering increased hourly pay beyond previous proposals. Train service will resume Tuesday, allowing for track inspections and rail car preparation. The agreement, the second in three months, still needs BLET member approval and a subsequent vote by the NJ Transit board. The strike caused significant disruption, costing NJ Transit millions daily in alternative transportation provisions.
