On a KLM flight from Uganda, Oklahoma cardiologist Dr. TJ Trad, equipped with portable medical devices, treated a passenger experiencing severe chest pain. Suspecting a heart attack, Trad improvised an emergency room, administering medication and using an ECG to monitor the patient. The patient's condition stabilized, allowing the flight to continue to Amsterdam where an ambulance awaited. Trad, who survived a heart attack last year, attributes his ability to help to a fortuitous turn of events.
