A new chimney was installed atop the Sistine Chapel in preparation for the papal conclave on May 7th. The chimney's smoke—white for a new pope, black otherwise—will signal the outcome to the public. Around 133 cardinals will vote to select Pope Francis's successor. The new pope will face challenges including the Church's finances. The previous two conclaves lasted two days.
