Johnny Walker, now a heavyweight, secured his second consecutive victory after moving up from light heavyweight. He defeated Waldo Cortes‑Acosta by third‑round technical knockout at UFC Vegas 124, ending Cortes‑Acosta’s two‑fight losing streak. Walker’s strategy focused on distance, leg kicks, and an unconventional striking angle, while Cortes‑Acosta pressed forward for head shots. The bout was booked on short notice after Sean Brady withdrew from a scheduled main event. Walker’s win may open a path to the top of the heavyweight division, a route that was no longer available to him at 205 pounds. The fight concluded at 2:27 of the third round.
