Paramount Pictures announced that the biographical sports drama film Mr. Irrelevant, detailing the life and career of late running back John Tuggle, is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on December 25, 2026. Directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Nick Santora, the project is produced by Skydance Sports, Megamix, and Blackjack Films. The movie stars David Corenswet as Tuggle, Michael Shannon as Hall of Fame head coach Bill Parcells, and Isabel May alongside an ensemble cast featuring David Krumholtz, Tuwaine Barrett, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Tandi Wright. In the 1983 NFL Draft, Tuggle was selected out of the University of California, Berkeley, by the New York Giants with the 335th and final pick, earning the traditional moniker Mr. Irrelevant. Despite skepticism from Parcells, Tuggle made the active roster and earned a starting fullback role before passing away from angiosarcoma in August 1986 at age twenty-five.
