Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko acknowledges implementing extensive playbook revisions as ninth-ranked Texas A&M prepares to host Kentucky. The Wildcats are coached this season by Jay Bateman, who served as Elko's defensive coordinator for the previous two seasons before changing programs. Elko stated he utilizes multiple terminology versions to prevent opponents from acquiring inside knowledge of team operations. Senior cornerback Dezz Ricks noted anticipation for playing against his former recruiter. The Aggies seek to achieve a 3-0 start for consecutive seasons, a milestone last accomplished between 2014 and 2016. Bateman joined Kentucky's staff after Will Stein was hired as head coach during the recent offseason. Both programs continue preparations for the upcoming conference matchup in College Station amid heightened strategic adjustments and established personal relationships across opposing coaching staffs and rosters.
