Caden Buhr kicked a 42-yard field goal with fifteen seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift No. 21 Iowa to a 16-13 victory over Iowa State on Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The win improved Iowa's record to 2-0, while Iowa State dropped to 1-1 in the annual in-state rivalry matchup. Iowa State built a 10-0 lead in the second quarter before Iowa responded with a 1-yard touchdown run from quarterback Hank Brown and a 45-yard field goal by Buhr before halftime. In the final period, Buhr tied the game with a 32-yard field goal before hitting the game-winning kick following a nine-play, 31-yard drive. Iowa State threatened late with a 24-yard pass from Jaylen Raynor to Carter Pabst, but a replay review confirmed only one second remained and the Cyclones lacked timeouts, sealing the narrow defeat.
