Micron's Taiwan Workers to Get Rewards Worth Up to 68 Months of Pay
PUBLISHED Sep 11, 2026, 3:45 AM ET
Micron Technology announced that its direct labor employees in Taiwan will receive fiscal 2026 rewards and bonuses equivalent to 35 to 68 months of pay. The announcement on Friday follows rising labor pressures and union strike threats in Taoyuan amid surging memory chip demand driven by the artificial intelligence sector. Eligible staff hired before August 29, 2025, will receive a one-time cash bonus of NT$1 million, while entry-level engineers will obtain total rewards averaging NT$3.4 million. The Boise, Idaho-based semiconductor manufacturer maintains over NT$1.6 trillion in total local investments across Taiwan. Company executives structured the unprecedented compensation package to address union grievances regarding profit-sharing parity with South Korean competitors. Secondary mediation sessions remain scheduled as union representatives review the updated corporate offer to determine whether to proceed with potential work stoppages that could impact global high-bandwidth memory supply chains.
