Michigan freshman guard Brandon McCoy Jr will miss the entire college basketball season due to a torn ACL in his right knee, head coach Mike Boynton Jr announced on Tuesday. The elite prospect sustained the severe injury during opening seconds of an exhibition game against Serbian club KK Mega Superbet in Montenegro. McCoy, a prominent freshman recruit from Sierra Canyon School, played exceptionally during team European tour stops in Lithuania, averaging fourteen points, five rebounds, and four steals across his first two appearances. University officials stated further medical updates regarding his scheduled surgery and subsequent rehabilitation timeline will be released publicly when available. Entering the campaign as defending national champion, the Michigan Wolverines face a substantial roster challenge following the devastating loss of their projected star contributor. Boynton assumed leadership of the program after former coach Dusty May departed for the professional basketball league team in the United States today.
