British energy giant BP has appointed Ian Tyler as its permanent chairman, following the departure of Albert Manifold in May due to governance and conduct concerns. Tyler, the former CEO of building group Balfour Beatty, steps into the role immediately to stabilize leadership oversight. The board-level turmoil also resulted in market attention on board member Amanda Blanc, who oversaw both Manifold and Tyler's appointments. Blanc will not seek re-election at the upcoming annual general meeting and will step down once a successor is secured.
