No. 11 LSU enters game week vs. Clemson with an ex-NFL player practicing and maybe more to come

Former Cleveland Browns tight end Dae’Quan Wright practiced with 11th-ranked LSU Monday as coach Lane Kiffin prepared the Tigers for Saturday’s opener against Clemson, but Wright’s playing status remains unresolved amid litigation over pros returning to college sports. Wright, who played for Kiffin at Ole Miss, was joined in LSU’s plans by defensive lineman Zxavian Harris. The Southeastern Conference adopted a rule last week barring athletes who declared for drafts, signed professional contracts or appeared on pro rosters from returning to SEC competition. A Texas judge blocked enforcement, while a Louisiana judge’s amended temporary restraining order prevents the SEC from penalizing schools over athletes. Kiffin said LSU’s player leaders supported adding eligible players. Wright practiced Monday but cannot play against Clemson because NCAA acclimatization rules require seven days before competition. A Thursday Baton Rouge hearing could determine eligibility this season. Jack Pyburn, another plaintiff, was claimed by Kansas City Monday.
