Pinch-hitter Edmundo Sosa hit his first career grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies to a dramatic 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night in Anaheim. Sosa's 404-foot blast off reliever Sammy Peralta came just two batters after Angels outfielder Wade Meckler made a spectacular leaping catch to rob Bryson Stott of a go-ahead three-run homer. J.T. Realmuto drew a walk against closer Ben Joyce (0-2) to load the bases before Sosa connected. The grand slam marked the Phillies' first go-ahead slam with two outs in the ninth since Shane Victorino in 2009. Angels starter Reid Detmers allowed one run over six innings but remained winless in his past eight starts despite a 1.55 ERA. Philadelphia has now won 10 of its last 11 games.
