Chris Sale Tops 100 MPH and Throws Complete-Game Shutout to Sweep Dodgers

Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale threw a five-hit shutout and struck out 11 batters to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 at Truist Park, completing a three-game series sweep. Sale pitched 109 pitches, including 80 strikes without issuing a walk, reaching 100.1 mph on a fastball to Shohei Ohtani in the third inning for his first triple-digit pitch since July 2018. This performance marked Sale's 17th career complete game and his first since June 5, 2019, alongside his 95th career double-digit strikeout game, placing him seventh all-time in major league history. Drake Baldwin provided the sole run of the game with a leadoff home run in the first inning off Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Yamamoto pitched 6.1 innings, allowing four hits and eight strikeouts before a sellout crowd of 39,650. Sale successfully convinced manager Walt Weiss to let him pitch the ninth inning, sealing the victory.
