TCU dismissed safety Jacob Fields on Aug. 18 after a reported locker-room altercation with a teammate, removing a projected starter before the Horned Frogs’ season opener. The university said Fields was removed from the roster for violating team rules. A TCU crime and fire log recorded an aggravated-assault report involving the football locker rooms on Aug. 14, after an incident reportedly occurred Aug. 13 at the John Justin Athletic Center. A heavily redacted police report characterized the alleged offense as aggravated assault involving hands, feet or fists, while Fields’ identity was not publicly named in that document. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Athletic reported that Fields was involved. Fields’ agent, Philip Miller, said substantial portions of social-media discussion were false or speculative. Fields transferred from Louisiana Tech after recording 92 tackles and three interceptions in 2025. The investigation remains open, and no criminal finding has been reported against him.
