He specifically cited oil smuggling, cash transfers, and ship registries as activities that must cease immediately . Trump described the action as an "ECONOMIC D-DAY" and called on US allies to join the effort . Iran's foreign minister dismissed the announcement as a distraction from the US national debt, which has surpassed $40 trillion . The war between the US and Iran is in its sixth month, with 18 American service members killed and over 750 wounded . The Financial Times reports Iran could target US military bases in Europe if the conflict escalates .
