The United States Central Command announced that the aircraft carrier USS George Washington arrived in the Middle East to relieve the USS Abraham Lincoln. The Lincoln completed more than two hundred fifty days at sea supporting operations against Iran. The deployment extension drew intense scrutiny and congressional inquiries regarding crew welfare, mental health, and severe supply shortages on board. Families and military newspapers reported plumbing failures, water issues, and reduced meal portions. Defense officials and Secretary Pete Hegseth disputed claims of substandard living conditions, calling them misrepresented. President Donald Trump defended the lengthy mission duration during recent public statements. Meanwhile, the USS George Washington transitioned from the Pacific theater to maintain American strike group presence in the region. The incoming vessel joins the USS George H.W. Bush, while the Lincoln began its long voyage back to the United States following the historic operational rotation in regional naval command theaters today.
