Stefany Shaheen rejects shutdown deal her mother backed | JQJO

Stefany Shaheen, running for a New Hampshire House seat on a health care platform, split with her mother, senator Jeanne Shaheen, over a deal to end the government shutdown that lacked an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits. The younger Shaheen said their approaches differ and insisted, “Otherwise, no deal.” Democrats fumed at eight senators who brokered the agreement and at party leaders, with calls for resignations. The clash lands as Representative Chris Pappas leaves his seat to run for the Senate seat held by Jeanne Shaheen, who is retiring. In Maine, Angus King III has stayed quiet.
