Democrats blast Schumer over health care retreat | JQJO

Democrats erupted after party leaders agreed to reopen the government without securing an extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, focusing their anger on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Although Schumer opposed the deal, progressives like Reps. Ro Khanna and Mark Pocan, as well as Senate hopefuls Zach Wahls and Graham Platner, said he failed to lead. The agreement promises a vote next month that’s expected to fail amid GOP resistance. Schumer blasted Republicans and vowed continued fights, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Elissa Slotkin said Democrats weren’t standing up enough on health care.
