Report says Ford debates Lightning future

Read, Watch or Listen

A Wall Street Journal report says Ford is in active talks about scrapping the F-150 Lightning, even as the company notes the electric pickup delivered record Q3 sales and remains the US best seller in its class. Production was suspended weeks ago after a supplier’s New York factory fire caused an aluminum shortage, a hit Ford estimates could cost up to $2 billion. Ford says it’s prioritizing F-150 gas and hybrid models, holding good Lightning inventories, and will restart REVC when ready. GM and Stellantis have also pulled back on EV pickups.
