Kaine urges budget talks as shutdown deepens | JQJO

With a 33-day shutdown deepening, Sen. Tim Kaine said Democrats are focused on the American people, not political wins, urging President Trump to sit down for a budget deal leading to a health care fix. Democrats seek to extend expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits, while the White House pushes a short-term funding bill through Nov. 21 that has failed 13 times in the Senate. Kaine rejected GOP claims about 'illegal' immigrants and warned of mounting fallout, from air-traffic delays amid sickouts to SNAP funding in limbo despite a judge ordering it to continue.
