The OLED iPad mini launches this Friday, and we tested one ahead of release.

MacRumors videographer Dan Barbera has been using the new iPad for about a week and shared his initial thoughts on YouTube.

The iPad mini 8 is the biggest update the line has received since the smaller tablet first came out 14 years ago.

At 5.4 mm, it is 0.2 mm thicker than the iPhone Duo when unfolded, and almost a full millimeter thinner than the iPad mini 7.

A thinner design makes it nicer to hold; it also weighs 255 grams, down from 293 grams, making it the lightest iPad Apple has made.

The device sticks with Touch ID and is the second iPad to get an OLED display after the iPad Pro.
